BioStar Renewables is seeking a Construction Administrator to provide administrative, operational, and technical support for solar development projects. Duties include document management, reviewing budgets, drawings, and schedules, and coordinating with project managers, providing clerical support as needed responsible for assisting the development team taking projects from the sales team and turning them into construction-ready projects. Primary duties include keeping track of development tasks and timelines, and assisting with due diligence for project permitting and construction as well as assisting in the financial closing of each transaction. Overall, the position is responsible for increasing the company's efficiency when closing projects and getting them ready for construction more rapidly.
The following are primary accountabilities for which the person in this position is responsible. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong understanding of the role that BioStar is to serve to our clients including a thorough understanding of each project’s scope of work, contract documents including drawings, specifications, design, and construction contract as well as regulatory requirements associated with each project.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively, maintaining schedules and meeting deadlines
- Prepare necessary documents and ensure that all forms required for construction are completed and submitted.
- Review purchase requisitions and oversee financial aspects of the project within budget guidelines.
- Coordinate and review design drawing and specifications submittals, log and upload submissions to document management system, track design changes and manage the document control system.
- Maintain accurate up-to-date project information in Project Management Information System (PMIS). Assist with maintenance of computerized project reports as required.
- Assist with management of all projects to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with BioStar standards and client expectations.
- Change Order Management: Review entitlement, evaluate potential costs and schedule impacts, log and track contractor-submitted Change Order Requests (CORs)/Potential Change Orders (PCOs), and provide recommendations as directed. Follow-up with contractor with missing back-up information or clarifications.
- Project Schedules: Assist in the establishment of a master schedule to ensure that the project is completed within agreed upon time and cost constraint. Review contractor’s schedule and provide comments review monthly schedule updates and comment.
- Monitor construction progress to ensure that projects are completed in compliance with agreed upon quality standards and specifications.
- Assist with monitoring of required field testing and inspections. Maintain logs and upload reports onto project documentation management system.
- Coordinate Project Close-out. Review all contractor Close-out submittals as required.
Education and/or Skills and Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience relevant construction project experience with progressive project responsibilities. Solar construction experience or higher education is a plus.
- 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture or other degrees related to construction project management/supervision or equivalent professional experience in lieu of education.
- Requires working knowledge of the principals of cost estimating, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Ability to accurately interpret construction contractual documents and contract modifications to determine cost of such change.
- Accurately analyzes situations and assists in developing contingencies for estimates.
- Proficiency with of MS Office Suite, as well as project management information system software such as Oracle
- Primavera Unifier, Prolog, ProCore, PM Web, and/or eBuilder.
- P6 experience is preferred.
- Travel may be required
- AutoCad, Revit and Bluebeam experience also preferred.

BioStar Renewables, LLC, a Kansas City based privately owned renewable energy investment company, is looking for a Production Operator to join our team.
BioStar Renewables is a full-service, clean-energy company providing complete turnkey project implementation from engineering, financing, construction and operations. The company is redefining "energy-services" by delivering solutions that both produce and reduce kilowatts for the new energy economy. Our company operates in a fast-paced environment with multiple subsidiaries and large-scale construction type projects across the United States.
We are looking for a Production Operator for our San Bernardino, California Waste-to-Energy Plant. This position will assist with all parts of the manufacturing process to constantly improve safety, quality, process efficiency and uptime at the facility.
This position currently reports to the Plant Manager.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Computer use to include office software tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) as well as use of the Plant’s computerized maintenance management software
- Test the quality of incoming raw material
- Operate all aspects of the operation including feedstock receiving, anaerobic digestion/renewable natural gas generation and the Plant’s wastewater treatment system
- Provide assistance where necessary including maintenance, housekeeping and inventory management.
- Help maintain a clean and highly organized Plant Site
- Be accountable for performance to the site’s key element goals (safety, environment, quality, productivity, cost and people)
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship
- Work in a highly participatory way with all employees
- Perform multiple duties on an as-needed basis during any given shift as requested by Plant staff.
SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Computer literacy
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience
- English speaking, reading and writing literacy
- Valid driver’s license
- Personal transportation
- Availability for work on off-shifts as well as scheduled and unscheduled overtime on weekdays and weekends
