BioStar Renewables is seeking a development manager responsible for assisting the development team taking projects from the sales team and turning them into construction-ready projects. Primary duties include keeping track of development tasks and timelines, and assisting with due diligence for project permitting and construction as well as assisting in the financial closing of each transaction. Overall, the position is responsible for increasing the company's efficiency when closing projects and getting them ready for construction more rapidly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work on a portfolio of projects from initial due diligence through handover to the construction team, including interconnection, permitting, land acquisition, site assessment, entitlements, and design.
- Engage a network of stakeholders throughout the process including community members, customers, building owners, and utilities.
- Provide legal team with support for the review and negotiation of documents.
- Be an internal development resource and coordinate external consultants while prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects across the country.
- Manage the development checklist tracker and timeline for each project.
- Speak with permitting officials and obtain the path to permit a project.
- Create summaries for development and sales teams to use for presentations both internal and external.
- Perform due diligence on interconnection and be able to provide application budgets and timelines for approval.
- Lead interconnection and incentive application processes.
- Provide budgetary numbers for the Sales and development team for permit and interconnection cost needs in the financial model.
- Assist in preparing bid packages for the subcontractor bid process.
- Coordination with contractors & vendors to ensure pricing and deliverables are consistent across markets meeting financier/investor requirements.
- Manage pre-construction project budget tracker with vendor information and all bids for a job.
- Understand industry-specific trends and landscapes.
- Effectively communicate value propositions through presentations and proposals.
- Assist in preparing investor summaries and investor due diligence packages to obtain bids from financiers.
- Track completed and incomplete tasks in the closing checklist for each financial close.
- Submit weekly project development report for review.
Education and/or Skills and Work Experience Requirements:
- An intimate understanding of the project development process, with a niche focus on solar PV and energy storage development.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Expert level interpersonal skills.
- Ability to accurately identify rocks in the road for project development
- Strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software / technical skills.
- Ability to work with outside parties and obtain critical information from them
- Willingness to learn new software, systems, and processes.
- Minimum 5-years in the energy space, preferable renewable energy sectors e.g., solar, energy storage, renewable natural gas, etc.

- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

Renewable Energy Asset Manager

Our innovative and growing company is searching for experienced candidates for the position of Renewable Energy Asset Manager. The ideal candidate will be an effective and experienced player, have proficiency in asset management, and be responsible for the oversight of commercial and operational deliverables.
This individual will be a valuable partner with the operations and financing teams. The ability to work within this team environment and communicate effectively is a key to success.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Renewable Energy Asset Manager is responsible for the oversight of commercial and operational deliverables for deployed renewable energy projects portfolios, including solar, RNG and effluent treatment. This includes the continuous evaluation of improved operations, system performance, and site level profitability for the assigned asset. This position is highly financial oriented focusing on strategic objectives: reducing operating expenses; improving revenues; extending the life of the plant. The position oversees different locations and different jurisdictions, each of which has its own revenue stream. The position provides training and support on underwriting and operational procedures, troubleshooting techniques and systems.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Manage and oversee all operations, budgets, and maintenance activities for assets within established operating guidelines for operating solar, RNG and fertilizer plants.
- Oversee the designated facilities’ operations, maintenance-related contracts, and agreements for sites under warranty
- Facilitate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting in accordance with financial, operational, safety, regulatory, and environmental performance requirements
- Review / perform accounting-relating functions including:
- Submitting monthly invoices to customers for monthly production
- Submitting RECs through the appropriate system and invoice counterparty for the cleared sales.
- Monitoring each facility’s performance in terms of comparison with expected financial and operational results and key performance indicators
- Engage appropriate internal and external resources as performance issues may require
- Represent the company in landowner and community relationships
- Work closely with equipment suppliers and service entities as needed
- Act as a single point of contact for Operations for any information, requests, deliverables associated with the plant functions
- Monitor generating equipment for proper function, service, and repairs
- Identify and engage contractors for facilities’ balance-of-plant maintenance
- Ensure that on-site activities at each facility are conducted in a safety-conscious manner
- Ensure that quality electronic communication is established and maintained at each facility
- Monitor new facility commissioning activities
- Ensure adherence to best practices and delivery of the optimal product
- Interface with Engineering, Accounting, and Development staff and other individuals, both internal and external, as needed
- Maximize performance and ensure value retention for each facility
- Monitor O&M contractor performance and ensure quality and adherence to the highest standards in work practices
- Ensure compliance with site environmental regulations pertaining to hazardous waste, oil spill prevention, avian studies, and wildlife conservation
- Partner with legal entity controllers to ensure that accounting entries are accurate, timely, appropriately reconciled and substantiated in accordance with GAAP and bank policy
- Partner with overall corporate teams to continue to look for standards and efficiencies in areas such as reporting and financial support
EDUCATION, SKILLS, WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly preferred
- 5 – 7 years relevant experience and strong expertise in asset management operations, with significant experience in team supervision and in project management, preferably in solar energy
- Familiar with regulatory frameworks
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database applications
- Proficient knowledge of PowerTrack software
- Proficient knowledge of Sage 100 Construction software or similar type
COMPETENCIES / PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
- Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to renewable energy projects including resource studies, environmental and cultural studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineering
- In-depth knowledge of risk management techniques

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on project sites; ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
- Walking: Ability to walk .25 to .5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites.
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Vision/Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on site
- Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
