BioStar Organics Recruits Organic Fertilizer Expert Allen Philo

Allen Scheduled to Speak at Upcoming Conferences

Allen PhiloAs BioStar Organics prepares to increase their fertilizer production, the company has made a key addition to their team, hiring Allen Philo as Vice President of Sales & Operations.  BioStar feels fortunate to land someone the caliber of Allen and is confident that his experience will lead to unparalleled execution of sales and distribution.  Allen, in turn, believes that BioStar has superior products which are a game changer that will help close the gaps in nutrient cycling present in our modern agricultural system.

Allen is a farmer with a decade of experience in fertilizer sales and organic farming, and he holds a B.S. in Soils from the University of Wisconsin.  He has worked both in managing large organic farms to acting as a crop consultant for farms from North Dakota to Ontario.  He has spent the last five years working as the specialty crop consultant for Midwestern Bio-Ag where he developed on-farm fertility programs for farms across the United States. In addition to this, Allen developed his own fifty-acre farm in Dodgeville, WI raising Norwegian Fjord Horses and various other livestock.  Throughout his career Allen has developed a reputation as a consultant that farmers trust.

Over the past decade Allen has been asked to speak at multiple conferences on the subjects of soil health and how to develop fertility programs for organic growers.  In fact, Allen has two upcoming speaking engagements this February. He will be speaking about Cover Crop Equipment Innovations & Hoop House Systems for Long Term Production at the 2017 Organic Vegetable Production Conference in Madison, WI this weekend February 3 & 4.  This conference is built around farmer to farmer skill sharing and is expected to attract growers from Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

MOSES Organic Farming ConferenceAllen will also be speaking about Soil Microbiology at the Midwest Organic & Sustainable Education Service (MOSES) Organic Farming Conference February 23-25 in La Crosse, WI.  The MOSES Conference is the largest event in the U.S. about organic and sustainable farming, offering 65 workshops over 6 sessions, inspiring keynotes, engaging Roundtables, and a resource-packed Exhibit Hall with over 170 vendors.  The event also features an Organic University with 10 courses that take place on Thursday, Feb 23 just before the conference.

At the 13th Annual Good Food Festival March 16-18 in Chicago, IL, Allen will participate in a panel discussion titled “The Importance of Soil and It’s Connection To Good Food”.  This Midwest local & sustainable food showcase includes days focused on financing & innovation, industry & policy, and local food farming.
